Writing and weather, how the climate can effect your writing

The last couple of days in Sydney have been quite warm, over the 30 Celsius mark, today its cooler and a steady rain/drizzle has been falling. My desk is right by a floor to ceiling window and I have found it nice to sit and write glancing out at the rain and mist. For me colder, rainier days seem to be the more productive for me. My novel The Damage was initially written in England (need I explain that connect to the weather!). I haven’t really payed much attention to the weather/writing connection. I am heading over the Europe for a month in their winter so hopefully that will be an inspiration.

Ah the sun has just come out….spoke to soon.

Just a reminder The Damage sale is still on (not for much longer!) and it is available for 99c at Amazon. So be quick before the price goes back up.

  1. It’s funny, but I am a tale of two extremes. I tend to be the most productive on those lovely, pouring rain days, but I also like to find a cool shady spot under a tree to bang out a few pages in the summer. Maybe it’s because it’s either too wet/cold/hot to do anything else.

    Great post!
